Synopsis for Alias the Spider: "Bringing Down Rocco Flint"
Rocco Flint’s mob attempts to kill off Mrs. Adams, the recent widow of Mr. Adams, who knew too much about Rocco’s operations. She’s wounded but survives, and the machine-gun-wielding thugs escape in a speeding car despite a volley of arrows from the Spider. The Spider then packs the bullet-wounded Mrs. Adams into his own car and drives her to Tom Hallaway’s house, and turns her over to Chuck, his chauffeur; then they take her to Doctor Horton’s office.
The Spider tells Chuck to get out the Black Widow; Chuck objects that it’s way too dangerous for driving in the city, but Tom is sure he can handle it. The car arrives and the Spider drives away, leaving Chuck at the doctor’s office. Chuck is right, this car is very unsafely fast, and some pedestrians including a cop have near-miss encounters with it, and he knocks down a streetlight, on his way to Rocco Flint’s garage, in a slum area of town. The hoods recognize the onrushing vehicle, by name, as the Black Widow. It zooms into the garage and smashes pretty much everything there, without being damaged itself.
The Spider gets out, and shoots a gun out of one hood’s hand, then punches him out, but now there’s nobody conscious to interrogate. Fortunately two more thugs arrive in a car; the Spider again disarms one with an arrow shot, but shoots the second one in the chest. The first one spills his guts when he sees that: Rocco is at his penthouse, having a party. The Spider knocks out the squealer, and drives the Black Widow to Flint’s home, pausing along the way to drive it, to very destructive effect, into a populated night club (owned by Flint).
Parking the Black Widow in an alley next to Rocco’s apartment, the Spider breaks into the building through an occupied apartment, and rides to the penthouse atop an elevator car, pounds some directions out of another thug, and finds his way into Rocco’s party, announcing his presence by shooting (from an unseen spot) a Spider Seal arrow, right next to Rocco’s head. Then he climbs across the terrace to another penthouse window and gets into the party room, and grabs Rocco, for a human shield. One treacherous underboss takes this opportunity to shoot Flint Rocco dead, and he also wounds the Spider, who nevertheless doesn’t fall down. Overreacting to the Spider’s apparently inhuman stamina, the traitor and other crooks all flee the party. The Spider manages to drive himself home, much to the amazement of Horton, who removes several slugs from Hallaway.

Synopsis for The Clock: "Robbers from Hades"
"The Devil" inflicts a treatment ("that sodium di-nitrophenol solution") which causes several men to burn internally, with intense heat, to force them to rob for him. Next on his list of men to kidnap is Brian O'Brien. The first attempt at abducting O'Brien, on an open street in broad daylight, almost costs the Devil three men, punched out, but their weird metabolic condition enables them to revive quickly. The second abduction attempt gets one of them (D-3) shot dead by his own gang, but succeeds in carrying away O'Brien. Pug arrives in time to spot the problem and follow them to their hideout, in which the Devil wastes no time in dosing O'Brien with his fiendish treatment. Pug bursts in, punches down the Devil, frees O'Brien, and hands him one of his silk masks. The Devil regains his feet and summons his three remaining minions into the fight, then flees; the Clock punches out two of them, then pursues. The floor of this dump has weird rectangular pits with fires burning in them; at least two of the Robbers from Hades fall into these. The chase gets onto a rooftop, where the Devil just plain carelessly blunders his way over the side of the building and hurtles to his death on the pavement below. Meanwhile the bad medicine is making the Clock dizzy and feverish, but he just happens to know the antidote for sodium di-nitrophenol poisoning; it's egg whites and milk; Pug fetches some of those, and soon the Clock recovers. The Robbers from Hades (D-1, D-2, & D-5) have all died, from a combination of long-term poisoning and being punched into a fire.

- That chest-shot on page 4 looks fatal. Tom Hallaway's body-count now is > 8.
- The Spider gets his first couple of bullet wounds in this story.
- Although we readers are seeing the Black Widow for the first time, it has apparently already been in circulation and gained a feared reputation in the underworld, based on the fact that low-level hoodlums are able to identify it by name.
- The tribe appearing in this issue's Black Condor story are the "Waquo," incorrectly listed elsewhere as the "Yaqui."
- The Clock:
- The Clock packs no gun in this issue, but pretends to, and successfully bluffs an attacker into a fatal spot.
- The Clock is knocked unconscious with a blunt instrument, in this issue, for the (at least) 2nd time in his career.
