It's probably uninhabited, but we'll land anyhow and look it over.

Cyclone is an interplanetary pioneer in 3000AD.
History
In the year 3000 AD, Professor Nebula will discover a new planet, in the Solar System, and determine that it is habitable. The Grand Solar Council will rule that this planet, called Vito, will belong to whichever planet whose flier first reaches it. Earth's President will appoint Cyclone to make this flight on behalf of Earth. Cyclone's future girlfriend Joy Daye will stow away on this flight.
King Murdo of Mars will stop at nothing to win the new planet, and will bring his well-armed rocket fleet along on the race. Cyclone, then Murdo, will land on a refueling asteroid, where Murdo will rashly attempt to kidnap Joy. Cyclone will punch Murdo until he falls down, and leave with Joy. Murdo will pursue, and will open fire. This will offend the other rocket-piloting contestants, who will team up to drive Murdo out of the race. But Murdo's destroyers will arrive, and a fierce space battle will ensue. The Martian ships will be driven away, but they will regroup to form a new ambush.
Cyclone will be first to reach Planet Vito and land, to plant the flag of Earth. His rival planetary pilots will all land, and congratulate Cyclone. While they are all busy building a radio station, with which to notify the Grand Solar Council of this outcome, Murdo will also land, secretly, and will try to take over the transmitter, and use it to call in his own fleet. Cyclone will catch him at this, and beat him unconscious.
Soon after that, a fleet of rockets will set out from Earth, with pioneers for Vito.[1] Joy and Cyclone will encounter the native Vito people, make peace with them, and this colony will prosper, despite the enmity, and intermittent attacks, of the king of Mars.[2] Planet Vito, also known as Planet X, is very much like Earth, but with lighter gravity. Native Vito people are humans with big white wings. Pioneers from Earth, Venus, and other planets will live peaceably with these natives, for a time, living on synthetic food crystals, eating only once every five days. An ancient civilization, and one live inhabitant, will be discovered. After a conflict with this ancient survivor, the colonists will gain access to the old civilization's scientific secrets.[3]
Later Cyclone and his mate will use a rocketship to explore several asteroids which orbit about Planet X. On one such moonlet, they will encounter a lone human, a deserter from World War II, who had improvised a rocketship and fled to this world back in 1940. Something in the air on this tiny moon will have kept him alive for all those years. Larger carnivorous plants, leopard-like predators, and enormous one-eyed animals live on this planetoid, and the elderly survivor will attempt to use these to murder Cyclone and his girl, but this will fail, and the man will end up joining them and returning to Planet X to rejoin human society.
