The title of the episode is a homage to the movie Mars Attacks!.
"Heatwaves: An Erotic Space Odyssey", Rory's novel, was first shown in "Here I Go Again".
The Legends impersonate K&G Pictures that first appeared in "Helen Hunt".
Ishiro Honda states the bombing of Hiroshima was his source of inspiration for the creation of Tagumo which is a nod to Honda being inspired by this tragic event into creating Godzilla.
- After the defeat of Tagumo, Rory suggests him that "lizard are kings" which inspires Honda into using the "King of Monsters" epiteth.
