Notes
- This one-shot follows Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1, published two months earlier.
- Although Prime Earth Batman does not recall his previous encounter with Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth openly references their first meeting.
- The DC Universe and Marvel Universe briefly merge twice in this issue, as a consequence of the "interaction" between Eternity and Kismet in "The Cosmic Kiss Caper," and Mephisto's spell in "A Magician Walks into a Universe."
- The Writer's weapon from "The Cosmic Kiss Caper" is both referred to as "Quantum Keyboard" and "Cosmic Keyboard." However, according to Grant Morrison, the Quantum Keyboard, which was used by The Master in JLA Classified #1, is a more advanced version of this Cosmic Keyboard.[1]
- In the epilogue of "The Cosmic Kiss Caper", the heads/helmets of the Brothers– the Cosmic Beings representing the DC and Marvel Multiverses in DC Versus Marvel– briefly appear. It is left unclear whether these entities have been retconned as disguises of Eternity and Kismet, or if they are simply related in some way to the two Abstract Entities.
Trivia
- Eternity and the previous iteration of Kismet also fell in love during the JLA/Avengers crossover.
- In "The Cosmic Kiss Caper":
- Deadpool breaks the Fourth Wall by turning to the Reader and saying "I can see you." This is obviously a homage to Buddy Baker doing the same in Animal Man #19, which was also written by Grant Morrison;
- Deadpool mentions several Clint Eastwood's movies, including The Dead Pool, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Unforgiven;
- Batman and Deadpool being merged into Deadbat mirrors the Caped Crusader and Superman being fused into Superbat. Superbat was also created by Dan Mora;
- Deadpool jokes about the Absolute Universe Batman being much "bigger" than his mainstream counterpart.
