DC Universe: Trinity is a 1993 miniseries that ties up a crossover between three of DC's space police series.

Synopsis

Three giant gods show up on different planets attempting to terraform them. All three find opposition from three separate protectors: Green Lantern Hal Jordan, the Darkstars, and the L.E.G.I.O.N. As revealed by the Book of Oa, these giants are the Triarch: a group of legendary Maltusian gods intent on remaking the universe.

Eventually, the Triarch arrives on their home planet Maltus, which has a pivotal role in their cosmic plan. Green Lantern comes to protect Maltus with orders from the Guardians not to oppose the Triarch. He learns that some Maltusians want the Triarch to succeed, as it is a prophecy they expect to come true. However, Green Lantern and the L.E.G.I.O.N., who have a contract to protect Maltus, can't stand by and watch the Triarch destroy the planet.

Meanwhile, Vril Dox investigates the origin of this Triarch, and thanks to an ancient tablet and the help of a native Maltusian, he learns something that will change the stakes of the battle. To ensure his hidden agenda, Dox commands the L.E.G.I.O.N. to prevent the Green Lantern from engaging with the Triarch. A fight between Hal Jordan and the L.E.G.I.O.N. breaks out while the R.E.C.R.U.I.T.S. try to save the Maltusians from the devastation caused by the Triarch.

Shortly after, Vril Dox changes his orders and tells the L.E.G.I.O.N. to attack the Triarch head-on. The Darkstars arrive on Maltus, and they also receive orders from the Controllers to step back and leave the Triarch unopposed. However, Ferrin Colos and his human deputies join forces with Green Lantern to fight the Triarch. Their disobedience turns them into targets of more Darkstars that come to Maltus to ensure the Controllers' orders. Things escalate quickly into a full-scale battle between the Darkstars and the Green Lantern Corps, partly fueled by Vril Dox, who moved the strings to distract both groups from attacking the Triarch.

While chaos breaks out in the city, Vril Dox leads a team to investigate a mountain that appears to be the Triarch's destination. Upon further analysis, they find signs of life under the surface. Inside an underground lab, Vril Dox meets Lord Daalon, a Controller and the creator of the Triarch. Daalon admits that the Triarch is nothing but a myth and that the three "gods" currently attacking Maltus are artificial beings he created inspired by those legends. So well he recreated them that his sons repeated their history and struck their father. Believing him dead, the Triarch vanished. Daalon, however, crawled into a life-sustaining matrix, where he slept until the L.E.G.I.O.N. awoke him.

Outside, Hal Jordan decides to step up to the situation and end the fighting, uniting all three teams against the Triarch, even if it means disobeying orders. However, the Triarch's powers stand unparalleled, and they release a devastating blast that destroys everything in its path. Bertron Diib of the L.E.G.I.O.N. is among the casualties.

The surviving members of all three groups collect their bearings, and Vril Dox introduces everyone to Lord Daalon. After learning the truth about the Triarch, the united forces of the Green Lanterns, Darkstars, and the L.E.G.I.O.N. strike again at the "gods." However, against all expectations, Lord Daalon betrays them and reveals that everything is coming according to his plans to reshape the universe. Colos and Hal Jordan try to stop him, but the Controller joins his children and declares it's time to fulfill their destiny. Hal Jordan rallies the three groups for a full-on attack at the Controller.

Meanwhile, Vril Dox issues an emergency summons for the Controllers and the Guardians to come to Maltus and convinces both parties to work together to face this crisis. Hal Jordan's plan comes at a risk, for it means leaving the Triarch unopposed to continue their devastation. However, since they are separate from their father's power, the giants realize that they haven't turned Maltus into the paradise they expected, and they start to panic upon seeing their failure. That's when the Controllers and Guardians convince the Triarch to rebel against their father. As their last deed, the Triarch uses Daalon's power and their lives to turn Maltus into a paradise.

In the aftermath, the people of Maltus make a monument in honor of those who died during the battle. The Guardians, the Controllers, and Vril Dox agree to the terms of their respective jurisdictions. The Controllers will take care of their renegade brother, and the Guardians consent to settle the matter of the "Mosaic World." Finally, the Controllers ask Vril Dox if he's interested in becoming the director of the Darkstars, an offer he rejects but says that he will think about it.
