Synopsis for Superman and Shazam: "With One Magic Word"
Superman has run afoul of a giant robot attacking Metropolis and soon figures out that within the mechanical monster is none other than Earth-S’s Maddest Scientist, Dr. Sivana! Sivana’s Giant Robot soon backhands Superman through a nearby building, but flies back up to attack him, punching off the robot’s head… which he just chases after, but finds that a woman and her child around about to be crushed in the falling debris below and dives away to save them. He soon returns to the Daily Planet as mild-mannered Clark Kent and hopes that Captain Marvel will stop him. Dr. Sivana soon returns his flying robot head to the Rock of Eternity where he’s used a science machine to dope the Wizard Shazam for just the right amount of time he’ll need to track down Billy Batson! He soon changes out his flying robot head for a large blue rocket-ship and takes off, announcing he intends to vaporize every major city in America unless Captain Marvel shows up. Billy manages to sneak off to “call some people” and calls SHAZAM… but Dr. Sivana’s ship which he’s rigged himself up to a green-suited Captain Sivana. Captain Marvel soon finds that the Stamina of Atlas is failing him in battle with Capt. Sivana and that his powers are seemingly gone!
Below, Mary Batson and Freddy Freeman call SHAZAM and CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel, Jr. to try to stop him, but Capt. Sivana throws his shuttlecraft at them to distract them and flies off to the Rock of Eternity himself with Captain Marvel over his shoulders. He shows him that Shazam is in a daze and that he’s changed the good qualities of the Shazam Elders to give him “King Solomon’s Love of Luxury, the Bad Judgment of Hercules, the Rebelliousness of Atlas, the Arrogance of Zeus, the Wrathfulness of Achilles and the Mischievousness of Mercury.” He soon drags him to the base of the Rock of Eternity and breaks a hole in the bottom to let him smother to death within. Mary Marvel and Junior arrive as Capt. Sivana promotes himself to “Major,” but start to beat him back into the Rock. Using the Wisdom of Solomon, Maj. Sivana flies around the Rock to escape to another time, so Mary Marvel flies to the future while Junior flies to the past. However, Maj. Sivana has stayed there to create a storm around the Rock of Eternity to keep them out and again promotes himself to Colonel Sivana. Captain Marvel, still under the Rock, strains to push himself out and Col. Sivana decides to go hunt down the one man he believes who can stop him now: Superman!
He soon arrives to find the Daily Star Building and a strange new police helicopter, not realizing he’s on Earth-Two when a more elderly Editor Clark Kent dashes out and is forced to go get the helicopter from crashing and then flies back to fight Col. Sivana himself, only for Col. Sivana to realize that this is an older, less-powerful Superman and starts to fight him back, saying he’s fresher and more powerful than him! Knowing he can’t kill him directly, he instead flies him into space until he finds a Kryptonite meteor and leaves him on it to let him die. He soon scrapes off a big chunk of it to attack Earth-One Superman and soon flies off, promoting himself again to General Sivana. A weakening Captain Marvel starts to falter and says that he’s still only mortal…
Back on Earth-One, Clark is distracted by Sivana’s attacks and Lana Lang reminds him he’s about to broadcast right now. Gen. Sivana soon blasts through the wall and orders Lana Lang to be his new PR person and names himself Ruler of the Multiverse. He is suddenly interrupted from saying he can kill any Superman by Superman punching him out of the building. Superman is able to create a vortex that keeps the rubble from crushing civilians, then finds Gen. Sivana atop a train, which he reveals is filled with deadly Kryptonite! A weakened Captain Marvel struggles to stay conscious and the spirits of the Shazam Elders and he shoves his way free of the Rock and flies around the Rock of Eternity to get to Earth-One to stop Gen. Sivana from beating Superman to death with a Polish hammer. Superman of Earth-One is able to fly fast enough to enter Earth-Two and save their Superman by running hard into the meteor, freeing them both. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel punches Gen. Sivana into a wall hard enough that the Wizard Shazam awakens and smashes Gen. Sivana with magic lightning, reducing him back to his normal form. Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel, Jr. arrive with both Supermen and they pick up Dr. Sivana to face justice on Earth-S and Earth-Two Superman goes home. Superman tells him they almost didn’t make it and it’s not easy for any man to be a Superman, but Captain Marvel says the Wisdom, Courage and Perseverance of the Shazam Elders… he could…
