Doodlebug is a deranged artist locked in Arkham Asylum.

Daedalus Boch was an artist who believed he received visions of inspiration and then compulsively recreated them on whatever canvas they indicated, including people. He took part in a series of ritualistic murders across Gotham City as part of a plan to revive a group of demons known as the Skarva who were trapped beneath Arkham Asylum by Etrigan many years ago.

He is eventually caught and arrested while painting murals around Gotham with his victims' blood. During a riot one night, he and his cellmate, Tucker "Junkyard Dog" Long, escaped into the Asylum. Boch continued to paint symbols on the walls, murdering Long and using his blood to complete the ritual to revive the Skarva and unleash vengeful spirits into Arkham.

Empowered by the Demon Lord Cthugha, he and the Skarva fought and subdued Etrigan, dragging patients and staff alike towards a summoning circle to sacrifice to Cthugha. Despite this, the symbols tattooed across his body go up in flames, resulting in him becoming a sacrifice to allow Cthugha to materialize on Earth.

  • Boch's appearance and artistic style are reminiscent of the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Whether this was intentional or not is unknown.
