Synopsis for "Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Green Lantern"

Years ago, John Stewart was chosen to be the Green Lantern, Earth's first and best superhero. When Oa fell and the Guardians of the Universe were killed, he became the new Guardian and ventured out into to the Multiverse, leaving an elite team of Lanterns called the Watchtower to protect Earth. Eventually he returned to Earth, retired from the Corps and became an architect, living peacefully on a farm with his mother and sister Eleanor.

In space, the Watchtower are attacked by the Radiant Dead, the destroyers of Oa. Their leader, the blind Lantern Kyle Rayner, calls John for help. Kyle's message is received by Eleanor, who floats into the air glowing green as Kyle's voice is broadcast through her. It is revealed that "Eleanor" is in fact the Central Power Battery disguised as the real Eleanor Stewart, who died years ago. John transforms into the Guardian and flies into space. He attacks the Radiant Dead's champion the Bright Revenant and destroys it.

The Watchtower hail John and he returns home. Eleanor asks her mother if the Radiant Dead will ever come back and take her away, and Shirley tells her that as long as John is around, they will never be apart again.

Synopsis for "Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Hawkgirl"

Kendra Saunders, the immortal Hawkgirl, has grown weary of her endless cycle of reincarnation. She feels burdened by the memories of her past lives, which appear to include fragments of her real life on Earth 0, as they prevent her from experiencing anything new. Hawkgirl journeys to the Temple of Life in the jungles of South America seeking the Vase of Mortality, which according to legend can remove immortality. She bypasses the traps in the Temple and drinks from the Vase. After a moment she collapses to the floor in pain and when it passes, she realises that she cannot remember any of her past lives and will not reincarnate when she dies.

The skeletons within the temple spring to life and attack her. She is exhilarated by the fight now that her life is truly in danger and destroys them. Hawkgirl leaves the temple, happy that she is finally free to live her own life as an individual, rather than as one in an endless string. After she leaves, Pariah emerges from the shadows, laughing maniacally.
