Synopsis for "Out There"

Years ago, Superman made a deal with Darkseid to allow the Lord of Apokolips free reign over the universe in exchange for him staying away from Earth. Clark has learned to ignore the screams for help on other worlds but his thirteen year old son Jon Kent, aka Superboy, is haunted by them.

When Jon is fifteen he breaks the truce by leaving the solar system and trying to save Rann from an attack by Orion, who is now Darkseid's general. Jon fails and is badly beaten by Orion, but Clark saves him and takes him back to Earth. In response Darkseid unleashes his Armada of Death on Earth, and over the next year Superman and Superboy fight off the armies of Apokolips, eventually forcing them to withdraw. Lois and Clark gift the now sixteen year old Jon with a flying motorcycle.

A year later Jon, now seventeen, goes into space again when he hears Orion attacking a group of innocent children. Although he is again severely injured and forced to retreat home, he manages to defeat Orion and save the kids. At eighteen Jon, now the new Superman, heads out into the universe to bring the fight to Darkseid. As they watch Jon jet off into the sky, Clark tells Lois he is so happy that he got to see Jon grow up.
