Synopsis for "Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Wonder Woman"

Etta Beth Candy is inaugurated into her second term as President of the United States and her friend Wonder Woman takes her to the Triad, three linked islands where the three tribes of the Amazons live united under Queen Hippolyta, to be inducted as an honorary Amazon. The next day, Diana stumbles across Hippolyta meeting with Bia the Seer and several Amazon scholars. Hippolyta tries to hustle her out of the room but Diana refuses to leave and sees what appears to be a missile silo. She dives to the bottom of the shaft, revealed to the the Well of Souls, and finds her enemy Doctor Psycho in chains.

Doctor Psycho tells Diana that the nations of men went to war and destroyed the world, but Diana made a deal with the goddess Gaia to restore the planet's ability to support life in exchange for imprisoning Psycho in the Well as a perpetual sacrifice. The Lasso of Truth proves what he is saying is true. Hippolyta and Nubia follow her down and tell Diana that they magically erased her memories of what she had done, but now that she knows the truth her deal with Gaia is broken. Hippolyta foresaw this and built a rocket, the "missile" in the Well, to carry the Amazons to another world. The rocket blasts off but Diana refuses to leave as her sisters escape to the stars.

The world reverts to a wasteland and Doctor Psycho tells Diana that she chose to stay because she wants to be the only source of hope in a doomed world, and that her deepest desire is to be a goddess among mortals rather than just a sister among the Amazons. She tells him he is wrong and lets him go, then sets off to save the world

Synopsis for "The Martian Squidhunter"

Humanity have spliced their DNA with that of cephalopods to adapt to climate change. This has made them more similar to Martians, so J'onn J'onzz no longer has to hide who he is or be alone on an alien planet, and he now lives openly as a homicide detective with a wife and children. J'onn and his partner Detective Bruton investigate a gruesome murder scene, where the victim was physically ripped apart and the message "WHAT DOES PARADISE LOOK LIKE ON EARTH?" was scrawled on a nearby wall in the victim's blood. Despite the seemingly crazed nature of the attack, the CSI technicians cannot find any forensic trace of the killer. J'onn tells Bruton that suffering is a universal constant among all living creatures, and even paradise must contain pain. He leaves for an anniversary dinner with his wife, but asks Bruton to contact him if anything comes up.

After dinner, J'onn's wife Sammy senses that he is hiding something from her and he admits that he believes the message was somehow written for him personally. Sammy asks him if his idea of paradise would be returning to Mars and his first family, but he tells her he has changed so much since Mars died that he could never return to his old life, and that he belongs with the new breed of humans on Earth.

Bruton calls and tells him that they have the killer cornered, but he has a hostage and insists that he will only speak to J'onn. He flies over and enters the building, where he finds a duplicate of himself in his Manhunter form holding a man hostage. The duplicate tells J'onn that he is a manifestation of J'onn's subconscious and that the world they are in is an illusion, but J'onn shoots him dead. As the doppleganger dies, J'onn tells him that the closest thing to paradise anyone can hope for is a world that is getting better, however slowly or intermittently, and that the world is better without a killer like him in it.
