The Dark Garden is a primordial location, which is a subsection of the original Void, created by the Great Darkness itself. It exists across time and space and is home to horrific monsters.
History
The Dark Garden and its residents were created by the ever-existing Great Darkness even before the creation of the Multiverse, housed in the Dark. The Garden cared for its "children", but one child realized it was actually a cage and escaped, taking human form and the alias "Jane Smith". However, the Garden would follow her and pull those she interacted with via the natural darkness in their hearts. In its maw, they would be tormented and eventually devoured.
After the disappearances of Gothamites caught Batman's attention, the Dark Garden attempted to pull him in, sensing much darkness in his heart. After Jane saved him, the Garden captured both of them. Batman fought against the horrors in the Garden and escaped with Cullen after Jane sacrificed herself to hold her kin back, having been inspired by the Dark Knight.[1]
