- Surely you see the futility of the task you've set for yourself? The utter impossibility of beating me? I am invincible. I am Darkseid!
- — Darkseid
Darkstars #31 is an issue of the series Darkstars (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 1995.
Synopsis for "Loose Ends!"
John Stewart leads a group of Darkstars to Apokolips to track down a fugitive. Even though they kept a low profile, the avant guard notices their presence and starts chasing them. The pursuit draws the attention of Darkseid himself, who confronts the trespassers and nags at John Stewart after their last venture. Keeping it together, John asks Darkseid to hand them the fugitive they're looking for, and Darkseid complies, but not without the Apokoliptian starting a fight to test the Darkstars in action. After a short "exercise," Darkseid lets the Darkstars take the prisoner and leave Apokolips.
Meanwhile, in the alternate universe created by Jeddigar, Ferrin Colos stows away in a ship and arrives on Elios Minor, the planet where the Jenuwynians of his universe are being held as mine workers. At the mines, Colos stumbles into a Jenuwynian who recognizes him.
On Earth, Donna Troy helps her friend, Annie Bonelli, move into the Titans Liberty Island Base. Elsewhere, the war between the Syndicate and the Crimelord continues to heat up as Daniiki is killed and replaced as leader of the Syndicate.
