- She's got the same quality of hopefulness about her. Of wanting to make things right. You seldom find one such being in a whole planetary population -- and I've already found three. What is with these humans?
Darkstars #6 is an issue of the series Darkstars (Volume 1) with a cover date of March, 1993.
Synopsis for "Flight of the Hawk"
On their way to Flint's location, Mo Douglas asks Ferrin Colos what happened that made him so bitter, and Colos tells how he became a Darkstar.
Long ago, Colos lived on the planet Zamba, torn apart by the Qinoori Raiders. Being a peaceful race, Colos' people couldn't defend themselves against the Raiders, and he was among the few survivors. Eventually, a Darkstar named Radz offered him the chance to fight back and prevent what happened to Zamba from ever happening to anyone again. And thus, Colos became a Darkstar, following Radz's footsteps. He was a good Darkstar until he got involved with the planet Jenuwyne. He faced raiders more savage than the Qinorri, but he failed to protect the natives. That failure marked him, and Colos tries his best to put that history in the past.
Meanwhile, Hawkman sneaks into the slaver spaceship, following a kidnapping he and Hawkgirl witnessed. The Darkstars intercept the spaceship and blast their way inside. They encounter Hawkman fighting against the guards, and they help him fight back. The Darkstars and Hawkman reach the slave hold and liberate the inmates. Carla White recognizes Ferrin Colos from the news and decides to step up and fight against their keepers, leading the rest of the slaves to a riot. While the inmates take care of the guards, the Darkstars and Hawkman reach the bridge and subdue the pilots, then force them to return to Earth.
With the situation under control, Colos returns to the slave hold and meets Carla. He senses the same hope he saw in Flint and Mo and wonders what makes humans have qualities like those.
Back at the hangar, Flint helps Hawkgirl fight the guards that remained on Earth. He then finds Frank Pappas -the man he was after- and neutralizes him.
