Darling is a Valeronian technofamiliar who belonged to Orphan's parents. After their death it became one of Mongul's champions.
History
Orphan's parents took Darling with them on a scientific mission to study the Source Wall. When the Wall was breached and its' owners were killed, Darling saved Orphan's life by assimilating his mother's corpse and forming an artificial womb around him. They were later found by Teacher and taken to Warworld, where they became Mongul's champions.[1]
Darling killed Lightray when she tried to "rescue" Orphan from it.[2] It was eventually destroyed by Superman's rebels when they rescued Manchester Black from Teacher's laboratory.[3]
Teacher rebuilt and reprogrammed Darling to serve him. Darling took part in the assult on a citadel the rebels had captured, along with OMAC, Apollo and Black Razor, three allies of Superman who had been either convinced or brainwashed into betraying him. After the citadel fell, Teacher and Darling went to guard the Star Forges against the rebels.[4] Orphan killed Teacher and took back control.[5] Mongul was killed and together Orphan and Darling became the pilots of Warworld, ferrying the freed slaves back to their homeworlds.[6]
