Dave Cockrum (b. November 11, 1943 – d.November 26, 2006) was a writer.
Professional History
Dave Cockrum was a professional comic book illustrator. He started his career working for "Warren Publishing" and was later hired as an assistant to Murphy Anderson at DC Comics, where he provided various inks to the Superboy and Superman titles. Afterwards, he went on to work for some of DC and Marvel Comics's most notable titles. He is best known for his contributions to the Legion of Super-Heroes title for DC as well as the "X-Men" franchise for Marvel, where he created characters like Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus.
Personal History
Cockrum joined the United States Navy for six years, after his high school graduation. During these years, he married Andrea Kline and had a child with her. Their marriage wouldn't last long and after a divorce, Cockrum married Paty Cockrum, a longtime member of Marvel's 1970s production staff.
Cockrum died at his home in Belton, South Carolina, on the morning of November 26, 2006, due to complications from diabetes.
