Black Manta is the arch enemy of Aquaman.

History

David Hyde was a mercenary working alongside his father, Jesse. On a mission, they broke into the home of Thomas Curry and David ended up killing him. Thomas' son, Arthur, hunted them down and wound up murdering Jesse, mistaking him for David. Hyde swore revenge and took up the alias "Black Manta," devoting his life to destroy Arthur's.
