For the artist, see Dave Stevens.

Dave Stevens was a reporter for the Daily Planet.

Stevens lived and worked in Metropolis' Little Africa. He was socially active and wrote a column for a local newspaper. He met Lois Lane when she was under cover in the neighborhood. Initially wary of her, she altered her appearance with a machine from Superman to fit in to the African American community. This second meeting was more successful for Lois, and she learned a lot about the neighborhood from Dave. One of the key issues was the crime, as they soon found out. Dave was caught in the crossfire of a gang. Lois provided him with the necessary blood transfusion. This also caused Lois to lose her disguise. Nevertheless, the two remained friends.[1]

Lois and Dave remained in contact, and she used him for information. Little Africa soon became the hotbed of racial tension when real estate developers moved in to put up office buildings. Stevens was one of the campaigners for better housing and services rather than offices. The project was a ploy by the 100 to consolidate their power, so it also piqued the interest of Thorn and Superman. Together with the local community, the heroes stopped the conflict when it became violent and exposed the criminal ties. For his role in the reporting on the situation, Perry White decided to add Stevens to the Daily Planet's city desk to cover inner city politics.[2]
