Death of the Endless is the personification of death and life.
History
Years ago, Death came to take Charles Rowland into the afterlife, but his spirit wouldn't abandon his friend Edwin Paine. So Death allowed him to remain on Earth with his friend as ghosts.[3]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Unique Physiology: As one of the seven Endless, Death is both lord and personification of all death and life. Death meets with the recently deceased and guides them into their new existence.
- Gift of Death: Death has the power to free the soul of a body and send a soul to its appropriate destination.[1][4]
- Metamorphosis: Death is capable of instantly altering her form at will, allowing her to appear as anyone or anything, like a punk girl or a scrawny being with a scythe.[1][5]
- Immortality: Like all Endless, Death is eternal and can only be hurt by means that it allows.
- Dimensional Travel: Death can instantly transport herself across dimensions.[1][4]
- Omniscience: Death knows when and where any living being is destined to die.

- Death was created by Neil Gaiman, Mike Dringenberg, and Malcolm Jones III, first appearing in Sandman (Volume 2) #8. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Death first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Justice League: The Darkseid War: The Flash #1 by Rob Williams and Jesús Merino.
