Degenerate is a Metahuman and reluctant member of the Doom Patrol.

History

Previously an ordinary person, Degenerate developed a monstrous appearance after his Metagene was activated following the Lazarus event. Short on money he quickly agreed to take part in experiments for a lab in Gotham City where he was designated Subject 99. The lab conducted several painful experiments on him in order to extract Genetic offshoots to sell as biological weapons. After some time, Degenerate gained control of these offshoots and attacked the whole lab. He was only stopped by the arrival of the Doom Patrol who managed to calm Degenerate down and recruited him into their team. He accepted the offer but only in order to avoid being arrested and moved into the Doom Patrol's bunker known as 'the Shelter'.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Metamorphosis: Degenerate can alter his shape to a limited degree by growing chitinous like growths about himself.
  • Superhuman Strength: When angry Degenerate's body becomes superhumanly strong. He can easily force a reinforced steel door open with his hands.
  • Superhuman Durability: Degenerate's chitinous growths make him resistant to damage.
    • Energy Resistance: Degenerate is mostly unbothered by energy attacks.
  • Size Alteration: Degenerate's size increases or decreases proportionally to his anger.
  • Superhuman Speed: Degenerate's speed increases to superhuman levels when angry.

Weaknesses

• Diminished Intellect: Degenerate's powers are strengthened by his own anger with the side effect that it also devolves his mental capacity.
