Synopsis for Martian Manhunter: "Menace of the Martian Weapons!"
When some Martian weapons appear on Earth, they are found by gangster Buggsy Roach and used by him in crime-sprees. John Jones is seen changing into J'onn J'onzz by Captain Harding, but Harding assumes that Jones has been physically transformed somehow by one of the Martian weapons. J'onzz's invisibly causes an explosion that destroys the weapons and allows him to capture Roach and his gang, but John Jones tells Harding later on he was able to find the weapon that "transformed" him back to his human state before it, too, was destroyed.

- "Menace of the Martian Weapons!" is reprinted in Showcase Presents: Martian Manhunter Vol 1.
- In Justice League of America #144, it is revealed that the Martian weapons in "Menace of the Martian Weapons!" made their way to Earth because of White Martian leader Commander Blanx, as a test to see if they could use their connection to Doctor Erdel's teleportation-ray to successfully transmit matter from Mars to Earth. Blanx makes his formal first appearance in Justice League of America #71, where he turns Mars into a planet-sized fireball, annihilates the vast majority of the Martian race, and is killed in final combat with J'onn J'onzz.
