Synopsis for "Hungry City, Part 1"

Commissioner Gordon uses the Wayne crime labs again when a dead killer whale is found in the middle of a large Gotham bank run by Tony Zucco's daughter. Gordon wanted to tell Dick Grayson about the connection, but despite Dick’s suspicions, Sonia Zucco is clean. They muse on how rare it is for children to break from their parents’ example, and Gordon tells Dick that James, Jr, wants to meet him. He wants Dick to promise to tell him his honest impression of James, Jr, after meeting him, just as a woman’s corpse falls out of the killer whale.

The woman is Evelyn Marr, Sonia’s personal assistant. Sonia refuses to tell Batman anything because she has other people close to her that “they’ll” come after. Batman leaves behind a bug when he goes, and he hears her make a phone call to somebody, promising to do whatever they want if they stop hurting people. Batman traces the call to Bixby Rhodes, a car dealer turned gun smuggler. He goes to Rhodes’s car dealership where goons fire at him, driving him to shelter in a car crusher that Rhodes activates.
