Detective Comics #96 is an issue of the series Detective Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of February, 1945.
Synopsis for Batman: "Alfred, Private Detective"
After Alfred is unable to join Batman and Robin, he decides to take a long vacation on a nearby town called Middleton. However, some of the criminals that Batman and Robin failed to capture in Gotham City have decided to take their crimes to Middleton as well.
Alfred starts his own business as a private detective but he is hired by the criminals to get information about a wealthy citizen. Alfred does the research and provides the criminals with enough information to rob the place, and Alfred is subsequently arrested. The news reaches Batman and Robin, who travel to Middleton and ask Alfred about the crooks. Alfred provides the information, but he soon realizes that he has sent the heroes to a trap, and he escapes the police headquarters to save them. At the criminal's hideout, Alfred, Batman, and Robin confront and capture the criminals.
After this, the three men are back in Gotham and since Alfred has proved his worthiness as a crime-fighter, he requests one more time to be part of the Dynamic Duo's adventures.
