Princess Diana is the daughter of Queen Hippolyta, one of the Amazons of the paradise island of Themyscira, who was chosen to fight alongside the allied forces of the outside world in World War II as her people's ambassador, whom the people would call Wonder Woman.
History
She became a member of the Justice Society, fighting alongside Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, and Atom. During her time in the outside world, she fell in love with the American soldier Steve Trevor and married him. In 1953, Diana was carrying their child Stephanie when Steve was reported as shot down over Korea. She sent a magical teenage duplicate of herself to investigate, and though she was able to find him barely alive, she was unable to bring him back to life using the Purple Ray. Diana raised her daughter Stephanie alone, who as a young girl adopted the identity of Wonder Girl and joined other young heroes her age -- Kara Kent (Supergirl), Bruce Wayne Jr. (Robin), and Wally West (Kid Flash) -- in taking down some criminals in Central City, eventually forming the Justice League of America. In 1969, Wonder Woman was called by President Richard Nixon to do something about the protesters gathered around the White House to protest the Vietnam War, and along with Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and Flash vocally refused to, saying that the people have a constitutional right to protest. In later years, Diana passed her responsibilities as Wonder Woman onto her daughter. After this, she returned to the Amazons and became their queen. She would take up the role as Wonder Woman once again when her daughter was killed.
