Dinah Drake was the original Black Canary and the mother of Dinah Lance.
History
In her youth, Dinah began operating as a costumed vigilante and became a member of the Justice Society of America. Like the other members, she refused to work for the government organization known as Checkmate. Because of this, Checkmate uncovered her identity and framed her for crimes. Ripping Dinah away from her family.[1] In the early 21st century, her daughter went in her footsteps and became a costumed vigilante.[2]

- Dinah Drake Lance/Black Canary was never given an official name. In the episode "Siren", Clark Kent is depicted as the one to coin the name "Black Canary".[2]
Trivia
- A Black Canary action figure briefly appeared in the episode "Action".
- In an interview, Geoff Johns confirmed her as the mother of Dinah Lance. However, because Alaina Huffman was unavailable for the filming of "Absolute Justice", this was not touched upon in the two-parter.[3]
