The Director was a wannabe villain of Batman (Dick Grayson).
History
After inheriting his uncle's film studio and the family fortune, Director set out to make his own mark in the film industry: super hero snuff films.
After he arrived in Gotham City, Director hired the Carpenter to help design and rebuild an old Gotham movie theater which he planned to lure Batman into a series of death traps which he would catch on film.
