In post-Zero Hour continuity, Dirk Morgna aka Sun Boy is the solar energy manipulating a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

History

Dr. Zaxton Regulus, blames the young Dirk Morgna for the accident and attempts to murder Dirk by injecting him with radioactive gold. This instead causes him to glow white hot, blinding Regulus. He is unable to control this power and has to wear a special suit to protect others from it.

Legion of Super-Heroes help Drik battle Dr. Regulus, but by the end of the fight he uses up all the energy and reverts back to normal.

Sun Boy meets the Legion again when he is possessed by the elemental spirit called Ph'yr that exists as a living humanoid fire. This spirit belongs to four Elements of Disaster. The Elements of Disaster wish to gain Mordru's power. Sun Boy regains control of his body and the stone elemental defeat the elemental spirits.

• Energy Projection: Sun Boy can internally generate an almost limitless supply of solar energy, from the smallest candle flicker to a blistering furnace. He is also immune to virtually all forms of heat and solar radiation.
