Synopsis for "Fire in the Sky"
Dr. Clark Savage is shot twice in the chest in an airplane hanger. Albert Jastrik, the shooter, flees and Savage recovers quickly due to his battle vest having stopped the bullets. Savage and his two compatriots, Monk and Ham, chase Jastrik in their Trimotor plane. The chase takes them over a nuclear bomb test site. The explosion stuns Jastrik and he loses control of his plane. Savage jumps out of his plane, landing on Jastrik's plane and steers the spy's plane until he regains consciousness.
Flash forward to the present, where Monk and Ham, are telling the above story to Senators Combs and Frinkle, who think the story sounds a little too incredible to be true. Ham tells them there is more to the story.
Flash back to 1945, New York. Savage is talking with Monk, Ham and Long Tom, explaining that he just finished removing the part of Jastrik's brain that allowed him to feel torment for some psychological trauma he had experienced that caused him to turn against his country. Jastrik walks into the room and thanks Savage, explaining that he is going to go live with his sister in Cleveland. Savage gives Jastrik a gold nugget souvenir and sends him on his way.
Flash forward to present day, where the senators ask to meet Savage. Ham and Monk say maybe and continue giving the senators a tour of the premises (Doc Savage's Fortress of Solitude). The senators finally meet Savage, who walks them to a helicopter bound for Washington.
Savage goes to the Himalayas to rescue a mountain climber who is perched precariously on a ledge, presumably unconscious. Savage drops to the ledge, awakens the climber, puts him on his shoulders and climbs the mountain with pinions. When they reach the summit, a figure in a parka helps savage and the climber up. While Savage's back is turned, the parka-clad figure picks up the climber and tosses him off the side of the mountain. Savage turns and sees what has been done and is knocked out by the figure in the parka.
Back in Washington, Senator Frinkle is stabbed to death in his office. Hearing a commotion, Ham walks in and finds the dead senator.
