Doctor Carcosa (New Earth)

History

Doctor Carcosa is a mad scientist who deliberately caused a series of mysterious events where airplanes would disappear in a haze of white light, with the inhabitants encountering space aliens; at least one of these events resulted in the plane crash that brought together the second group of Challengers of the Unknown.^[1] He is later absorbed into one of these fields and disappears.^[2]

Carcosa implies that he is also responsible for the plane crash that caused the original Challengers of the Unknown to band together.
