Doctor Teng was a top scientist working for Lex Luthor.
History
Doctor Teng was a Chinese scientist, at some point he was secretly flown to Metropolis by Lex Luthor to work on a Superman clone. Teng's experiment were some of the very first in cloning science, however the Kryptonian DNA proved too difficult even for him, his first clone turned into Bizarro I, an erratic version of Superman, who was quickly defeated by the aforementioned.[1]
Over the years, Luthor contracted terminal cancer after prolunge exposure to his Kryptonite Ring, and after encountering Brainiac, he was left with a highly sophisticated genetics laboratory,[2] Luthor arranged a temporary assignment at a government genetics facility, the Project Cadmus for Teng, the idea was for him to scout a talented mind to help him cheat death. Teng encountered in the catacombs Dabney Donovan, former head and co-founder of the Cadmus Project, Teng persuaded Donovan to help Luthor, and so they began working to create a cure for him, after many months of experiments they created a new, young body around Luthor's nervous system that was previously saved from his terminal body, and although successful, Lex was aware that anyone who knew of this secret (besides his most trusted employees, Happersen and Kelley) could pose a threat to him in the future, so after the operation, he detonated the entire facility, killing Teng instantly, only Donovan managed to survive.[3]
