Synopsis for "Whatever Happened to Destiny Beach?"
The Doom Patrol arrive at Flex Metallo's home, Destiny Beach, a safe haven for those with a proclivity towards muscularity. When the Doom Patrol arrive they find oasis has turned derelict - the beach is washed up, the boardwalk broken and everything covered in waste. Flex looks around and spots the first living person, a Hot-dog salesman who directs Flex to Jupiter's Gym where his old companions are exercising. Flex's old crew explain how a villain Skarg has come down and beaten their crew at the Flex-Off endlessly.
In Dannyland, Mento is helping Robotman, or Cliff Fixit, to complete minor "quests" to unlock new upgrades for his body. Cliff saves cats, performs appendectomies and develops the ability to fly. He then sets off into the stars looking for more worlds to save.
Skarg, and his crew, arrive at the beach and he explains how he now possesses the Secret Spandex, an old banana-hammock which had possessed Flex before, and grants immense strength and power at the cost of turning the wearer evil.
A Flax-Off between Flex and Skarg's crew ensues but one of Flex's crew gets cramp requiring The Cabana Man, who turns out to be an old friend of the Patrol - though Casey Brinke believed he had died[1] but his essence had drifted to this star.
Skarg's flexing is too much with the Spandex and he forces Flex to submission but due to one competitor having to withdraw there is one space left on Flex's team - Rita Farr takes the challenge. Using her elasticity she expands into a enormous version of herself and flexes in the skies winning the competition.
The Spandex flees from Skarg and heads straight back to Flex who uses Larry's positive powers to fly into space to strand the Spandex with him in the cold vacuum. Destiny Beach returns to how Flex remembered it and Skarg is forced to run away naked.
Cliff lands on a derelict planet where the population are ruled by dictators and they live impoverished lives and Cliff starts his next project.
