Doomsday was a clone of Doomsday created to replace Superman.
History
In an alternate timeline, Project Cadmus was unable to give their Superman clone, Conal, superpowers. Still needing a hero to replace the late Superman, Cadmus cloned Doomsday, the creature that killed him.
Doomsboy became one of the four heroes who emerged to replace Superman, alongside Cyborg, Steel, and the Last Son of Krypton. As Doomsboy rose to Superman's level of popularity and responsibility, Conal found his brother's un-Superman-like activities; such as recklessness, willingness to kill, and taking money for his heroics; as dangerous. He tried to convince his brother of such, but his brother retaliated at being compared to Superman. Doomsboy was going to kill his brother before Conal was whisked away by Impulse.[1]
Promising revenge on Conal and Impulse, Doomsboy joined Bedlam in attempting to prevent the restoration of the previous timeline. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to prevent Impulse from having one of his scouts from resetting the timeline, erasing Doomsboy from existence.[2]
