Dorothy Woolfolk (b. October 1, 1913 – d.November 27, 2000) was a writer.

Professional History

She was one of the first women working in comics, working as an editor and occasional writer between 1942 and 1944. She moved to Timely Comics and two years later, to EC Comics. She is widely credited for the introduction of Kryptonite, as she felt Superman needed an Achilles heel for the stories to stay interesting.

She returned to comic books when her children came of age. During her editorship, several legendary artists like Liz Berube, Howard Chaykin and Sal Amendola got their start at DC.
