Count Dracula was an ancient vampire, which was later haunting 21st Century Gotham City.

History

Centuries ago, Dracula was the terror of Transylvania until his death. His lifeless body was taken far from his home land and laid to rest in America.

Centuries later, Dracula's corpse was found by The Penguin within Gotham Cemetery while looking for a coffin filled with cash. While opening the coffin, Penguin accidentally cut himself and a single drop of blood entered the lifeless vampire's body, reviving him. While pursuing Penguin through the Cemetery, Dracula attacks a lone night guard and takes Penguin as his servant.

After several nights, Batman began investigating the various disappearances throughout Gotham and realized that those who have gone missing were vampires. The vampires who encountered Batman, returned to Dracula with news of the caped crusader.

While his army of vampires searched the night for blood, Dracula himself searched out the wealthy and Penguin gave him the first place to go, Wayne Manor. Upon his arrival, Dracula blended in with the crowd, meeting with Bruce Wayne and Vicky Vale at the Wayne Industries Energy Expo. Dracula managed to hypnotize the boy billionaire only to be stopped by Alfred Pennyworth. After feeding on a member of the kitchen staff, Dracula leaves the mansion in the form of a bat.

While watching the TV Penguin provided, Dracula eyed Vicky on the news and chose her to be his bride. The next night, Batman was being chased by the GCPD and the ancient vampire encountered Batman on the rooftops. Engaging his mortal foe in combat, Dracula offered him a chance to serve him only to be turned down by the caped crusader. Before he could kill Batman, the sun had risen, causing Dracula to retreat and disappear into the shadows. The next night, Dracula's slumber was disturbed by The Joker who became the vampire's next victim. For several nights, Dracula saw no sign of the caped crusader and continued to feed. It was then later on that he captured lonely Vicky Vale and brought her to his lair to resurrect his dead bride Carmilla Karnstein.

It was then that Batman arrived and the vampire king ordered his subjects to attack the Dark Knight. Batman counterattacked with the cure to the vampire infection, turning the infectees back to normal. Unable to bring his bride back from beyond the grave, Dracula chased Batman throughout the underground tunnels with the soul purpose of killing him. The two ended up in the Batcave where an intense fight ensued. Despite being hit with a dart filled with the vampire cure, Dracula showed an immunity and therefore knocked Alfred out cold. While Batman escaped to higher levels of the Batcave, Dracula ascended into the air only to be blasted by the same device shown off at the Wayne Industries Expo designed to store pure sunlight. Batman turned the device on, allowing its rays to kill the vampire for good.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Vampirism: In addition to the various mental and physical benefits that vampires are heir to, they also possess the ability to turn others into vampires as well. Each new vampire is traditionally subservient to the one who "turned" them, but some strong-willed vampires have been known to rebel against their masters.
  • Enhanced Senses: A vampire's senses are enhanced far beyond those of a normal human being.

  • Immortality: So long as vampires continue to consume blood, they will not age beyond the physical state they were in when they first became a vampire.
  • Invulnerability: Vampires are invulnerable to most forms of injury (certain exceptions apply). Bullets, blades and blunt objects do little to no damage to a vampire's body.
  • Regeneration: In addition to being virtually indestructible, whatever damage a vampire does in fact suffer can be healed through the consumption of human blood.
  • Superhuman Strength: A vampire's strength level is several times that of a normal human being and they are considered superhuman.
  • Superhuman Speed: A vampire's speed level is several times that of a normal human being and they are considered superhuman.

  • Superhuman Stamina: So long as they continue to consume human blood, a vampire can function tirelessly without rest or relaxation. However, a vampire's stamina wanes the closer it is to sunrise.
  • Psychokinesis: Most vampires possess some form of psychokinesis. Some are clairvoyant, others can communicate telepathically, some possess mind control. Particularly powerful vampires can control the minds of several people at once.

  • Transformation: Vampires often possess the ability to transform into a variety of creatures or effects such as bats, wolves, rats or even mist. While their physical attributes may fluctuate during such states, a vampire's mental acuity is the same as that when they are in their human shape. A vampire who transforms into an animal may also benefit from that particular animal's attributes including razor-sharp claws, fangs or the ability to fly. Vampires also often demonstrate the ability to alter their appearance at will.

Weaknesses

• Vulnerability to Garlic: Dracula, like the others he infected had a vulnerability upon exposure of garlic. It did not kill, but merely slowed them down.
• Stakes: A traditional vampire killing method, Dracula was staked in the heart by a vampire slayer (possibly Abraham Van Helsing) before being shipped far from his native homeland of Transylvania. This weakness however was overcome due to a drop of Penguin's blood entering his punctured heart, causing him to come back to life.
• Vulnerability to Sunlight: Like all vampires, Dracula is not immune from the effects of the sun. He stated that in the movie it is an "almost permanent death" for members of his kind. The only way for a vampire exposed to daylight to come back from the dead would be to absorb the life energy out of an individual with the use of their ashes.
