Drang the Destroyer is known as the greatest criminal in the Cosmos; too evil to even consider joining the amateurs in the "Circle of Evil". He is the Overlord of the Purple Planet in some other strange universe; where a powerless Supergirl was sent to defeat him.

When Supergirl infiltrated the Circle of Evil, she had to prove her loyalty and ability by capturing Drang the Destroyer. He was the ultimate evil in his strange cosmos, and would not join the Circle of Evil simply because he felt they were not evil enough. Supergirl would be the sixth to attempt his capture; the other five were dead.[1]

Drang immediately demonstrated his powers across the cosmos, projecting himself and destroying the headquarters of the Circle of Evil, and stripping Kara of her superpowers.

On the Purple Planet, Supergirl found many heroes that she recognized, but even with a small army, Drang could not be withstood. No physical assault could touch him, as he was a living force. It was only through spycraft that Supergirl learned that Drang fed on the energy that evil deeds created, and would tire if he expended them while the forces of good fought him.[2]

Drang's Vigorator maintained him while he schemed to get the assembled heroes to battle each other for food or to escape; as only through manipulating them to perform evil could he be restored. The heroes of many worlds pretended to defect to his side, to support what Drang called "Operation Satan" — where he would re-enact the worst crimes of history.

Kara built the Time Magnet, which brought the worst criminals of many worlds to the Purple Planet, but their combined evil energy made Drang grow until he exploded, destroying the criminals, and seemingly destroying Drang himself.

Once Drang was defeated, Supergirl's powers returned and she left that strange universe for Earth and the Fortress of Solitude, where some ethereal spirit of Drang wafted away.[3]
