Synopsis for "God Flesh"

In orbit above Earth, Green Lantern (Alan Scott) deals with being the sole avatar of Earth 2. The spirits of the other Avatars speak to him, and tell him that they share his life force - including Sam Zhao, his fiancé, who had become the Avatar of the White. They tell him that he needs to use their powers to protect the planet from Apokolips. All around Earth, sections of the god planet encroach on it, with the goal of consuming Earth. Sam speaks to Alan, telling him that he instinctively knows how to protect the world. Rallying, Alan casts a forcefield around the planet to try and stave off Apokolips from consuming it.

In Amazonia, at the last military HQ of the World Army, Big Barda and Kalibak lead their troops against the World Army, and seem to be winning. They notice that Apokolips has halted consuming Earth, but they pay it little mind. As they taunt the people of Earth, a blue energy beam strikes Kalibak, and Jimmy Olsen appears. He scolds Barda, saying her betrayal caused the death of her comrades and the destruction of the Endurance escape ship. Barda warns Kalibak that they should defeat him quickly, but as she goes to attack Jimmy, he uses his Mother Box / Source powers to destroy her armor. Kalibak tackles Jimmy to the ground, and starts to pummel him, but realizes that Jimmy is now a New God, and has godflesh.

Up in low Earth orbit, at the destruction site of the T.S.S. Endurance, ten seconds after the crash, there is a shimmer and mysteriously, a new, unharmed spaceship appears in place of the destroyed one. Terry Sloan (Mister Eight) tells Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) that this was all part of his plan. Aboard the intact ship, Fury, Terry Sloan, Mister Terrific, Mister Miracle, and Sandman (Wesley Dodds) are still in the command room. Holt asks Sloan if the Apokoliptian beam went to a different universe and destroyed a ship there, which Sloan says is correct. Dodds and Fury comment on the cruelty of that act, but Sloan counters, saying that the ship from the other universe was empty. He explains that he has created Endurance ships across many universes, but right now, theirs is the only one in need of the escape ship. Fury reminds him that Apokolips is still attacking Earth. Terrific acknowledges how impressed he is with Sloan, but tells him it is now his turn for a surprise.

Outside of Oklahoma City, above Atom’s Haven, Batman II (Thomas Wayne), Huntress (Helena Wayne), and Red Arrow (Oliver Queen) arrive via the Maunsell Sea Forts (aka the Codex). The Waynes explain that this place is their best bet of getting off-planet, and that they need to join the others deep underground. Ollie quips about the desperation of their situation. Meanwhile, Helena radios to Commander Sonia Sato, letting them know they’re coming in. She also asks if Sato has any news around Kara Zor-El (Power Girl). She tells her that Kara, Red Tornado (Lois Lane), and Superman II (Val Zod) are in the stratosphere, fighting off the Apokoliptian satellites. However, their more urgent predicament is that Brainwave (Henry King Jr.) has commandeered their evac ships. Lt. Ayin radios Sato, informing her the people are panicking. Sato stresses how critical the ships are to the three Wonders, and they agree to get them back from Brainwave.

Down in Atom’s Haven, Brainwave, Todd Rice (Obsidian), Jonni Thunder stand in front of a mass of people. Brainwave tells the people, who are mind-controlled, that he is their savior. At the same time, Dick Grayson pushes through the crowd and finds his son, Johnny. He picks up his child - who is also under Brainwave’s spell - and starts to leave the area with him. Brainwave notices, and also notes how Dick is immune to his mind-control. Dick asks what he’s doing to the people; he tells him that they will be his followers wherever they end up going after Earth. Obsidian starts to argue, but Brainwave extends his mind control to both Todd and Jonni. Henry tells Dick that he isn’t on the guest list, since he can’t be controlled, and orders Ted Grant - who now appears, also under the psychic control - to shoot Grayson. Ted tries to resist but cannot. Before he can pull the trigger, a batarang hits Brainwave in the head. Thomas and Helena swing in, with Thomas knocking out Brainwave and Helena kicking the gun out of Ted’s hand. With Henry unconscious, the people start to awake, confused, and panic. Helena and Thomas try to keep order; Dick realizes he has lost track of his son Johnny, again.

Up in the stratosphere above Earth, Val, Kara, and Lois fend off the satellites. Sato radios them to cease attacking them; when Kara questions this, the commander explains that they need the trio to go on the offensive and attack Apokolips itself, to buy them time to evacuate Earth. Kara is happy to oblige, and they fly further up, coming across Green Lantern and his barrier. They say they’re here to help, but he explains it is too late - he has used up the power of the Parliament of Earth, and the barrier has failed. It fades away, and Val catches Alan as he falls.
