Synopsis for "To the Victor..."

The World Army arrives en masse on Dherain to fight Steppenwolf, who just waits for them to come before he starts slaughtering them. He is joined by his three Hunger Dogs: Beguiler, who transforms the normal and the mundane into the horrifying and the impossible with her chaos energy; Bedlam, who controls the minds and wits of his enemies, with the power to send madness into the sanest of men; and Brutaal, who is simply described as "force, might and fury". Together, they lay waste to the World Army forces, causing Mister Terrific and Amar Khan to bail out of General Foster's ship. Mister Terrific activates his flight pack and brings Amar to safety, only to find themselves surrounded by the bodies of hundreds of dead soldiers.

Meanwhile, the Wonders of the World and the World Army super-soldiers find themselves still alive, but soon Sandman receives word that the invasion of Dherain has failed, and now their orders are to evacuate everybody that they can. They team together for the rescue mission, except for Green Lantern, who goes straight for Steppenwolf to take him on in physical combat. Brutaal zaps Green Lantern from behind with his Omega Beams, and both he and Steppenwolf gang up together to beat Alan Scott into total submission, also knocking down the Atom in the process.

Steppenwolf sees that the reporters are still filming what's going on and turns to them to speak to the people of Earth to tell them that he is now their master. Before he goes much further in his speech, however, he is blasted to death by Brutaal, who calls his former master an idiot and a fool. Then suddenly Brutaal's armor breaks apart, and underneath is revealed to be the form of Superman, who raises his fist and shouts "Hail Darkseid!" before going on a destructive rampage throughout the entire Earth while Sandman teleports the reporters safely out of the region.
