Edward Nigma is the Riddler, an enemy of Batman and Robin.
History
In one of Jason Todd's early adventures as Robin, the Dynamic Duo fought the Riddler and his gang. The heroes successfully defeated the villains, with Robin landing the final punch on Nygma. [1]
Sometime later, Jason was killed by the Joker and revived in a Lazarus Pit, returning as the anti-hero Red Hood. During these events, Riddler would remain an active criminal and was listed as an example of Batman's moral failing for not killing his foes.
However, in a scenario in which Jason survived the warehouse explosion and therefore never died, he would have instead become a deadly, bandage-faced vigilante. In this sequence of events, Jason would have decapitated the Riddler during a robbery. [2]
