El Sombrero is a Mexican criminal mastermind in a luchadore mask who designs near inescapable death traps for anyone who's willing to pay. He is known for being a long-time enemy of the Batman-inspired Argentinian vigilante, El Gaucho. Following an incident with the Joker, he ended up permanently bound to a wheelchair and having to use a computer to speak. He has been a member of the Club of Villains and, as revealed in Batman: Urban Legends #21, is also the father to the cybernetically enhanced Arkham Academy student known as Deathtrap.
