Synopsis for "Round One: A Far Better Thing"
It's been years since humans regained personhood from their animal masters, and Earth is finally being invited to rejoin the greater galactic community, which means sending champions to compete in galactic gladiatorial combat. In recognition of Earth's precarious peace between humans and animals, Earth is sending two champions, the human Oscar Navarro and the Octopus Kana. But when Oscar's brother Ian learns the truth about the games, he ambushes Oscar and takes his place.
