The Elementals were a group of humans who had been bonded with four elemental spirits.
History
Gotham millionaire, Sandor Fane gathered together four individuals he had secretly chosen to be the hosts of four element spirits. He then used a manuscript written by the legendary alchemist, Paracelsus. Which summoned the four elementals and bound them to his human victims, making them the unwilling hosts. Fane also gave the group costumes and told them that the Super Friends were evil and needed to be destroyed. Upon being defeated by the Super Friends, the Elementals learned that Sandor Fane had tricked them. The group then teamed up with the superheroes to defeat Fane together.
