Elise Abar (Watchmen TV Series)

Elise Abar was the mother of Angela Abar, who would become the vigilante Sister Night.

Elise met her future husband Marcus Abar during the Vietnam War. Marcus had enlisted as a soldier and cut off ties with his mother, who disapproved.

After Dr. Manhattan had won the war for the United States and made Vietnam the 51st state, Elise and Marcus married, and together they had a daughter named Angela. They continued to live in Saigon.

When Angela was a child, Marcus and Elise were killed in a suicide-bombing performed by a Vietnamese nationalist who resented the United States' colonization. Angela, having been far enough away from the blast, survived but was orphaned.
