Dr. Elizabeth Luthor is the estranged daughter of Lex Luthor.

Lex tried to be a better parent to Elizabeth than his own parents had been to him, and made a point to drop her off at school almost every day. When Elizabeth was fourteen, her mother filed for divorce; she wanted to take Elizabeth with her back to England but Elizabeth insisted on staying with Lex. With her father's arrest and trial she learned that he had been a dangerous criminal, something he had always hidden from her.[1] Elizabeth moved in with her mother in London; she wrote letters to her father in prison for a while but then stopped, deciding she needed a complete break from her past as she was sick of being judged for the things Lex had done. When she grew up she became a doctor, graduating top of her class in medical school, and got married.

When her father was released from prison Elizabeth, who was six months pregnant, went to Sam Lane and asked him to help her disappear. Sam put her in witness protection, relocating her to a small village in France.[2] Lois Lane later tracked her down and asked her to speak to Lex and convince him to give up his revenge against her and her family. Elizabeth eventually agreed and returned to Smallville to meet with Lex.

The conversation started poorly as Lex refused to admit responsibility for any of his crimes, claiming that they were all lies spread by Lois. Elizabeth told him that she believed the father he had been in her childhood was an act, but Lex insisted that was not true and told her that he just wanted a chance to be her dad again. He then showed her a picture of her as a child which he had held on to throughout his time in prison, but when Lex still refused to admit to the things he had done she stormed out. Clark Kent stopped her in the street and asked her to go back in. He told her that his father had died when he was a teenager and that, no matter how she felt about Lex, he knew that she had lost something when he went to prison. She decided to go back in and at least try to reconnect with him.

Lex revealed that his father had abandoned him and his mother had been physically abusive, something he had never told her before. He told her that the hardest part of being in Stryker's was not knowing if she needed him, and she admitted that she had. He asked her to let him be there for her now, and they held hands. Elizabeth warmed up to Lex and they started having a real conversation, but when she asked him about Metropolis he said he hadn't been back yet. She realised that he was staying in Smallville to get revenge on the Kents. Elizabeth told Lex that if he didn't break away from his cycle of anger he couldn't be part of her life, but Lex simply said that Lois had to pay for the time he had lost. Elizabeth left for good, saying that her mother had been right about him.[1]

Lex challenged Lois to a debate on television and Lois agreed, as Lex was slandering her in the press and she wanted to clear her name. Elizabeth agreed to call in to the debate and support Lois' claims against her father, but when Lois tried to call her Lex had a hacker take control of John Henry Irons' armor and use it to disrupt the debate.[3]
