Emmitt Pergande is a petty criminal from Smallville and the father of Candice Pergande, Jon Kent's girlfriend.
History
Emmitt Pergande did time with Lex Luthor in Stryker's Prison.[1]
As well as being a thief, Emmitt groomed his daughter to sell X-Kryptonite derived drugs to her classmates. He stole Jon's truck and sold it to a chop shop, then punched Jon and threatened Lois with a gun when they confronted him about it. That night, Clark Kent came into the diner where Emmitt was eating and warned him to stay away from his family. Emmitt attacked him, but to his shock the usually meek Clark easily overpowered him. Clark said that if her ever stole, sold drugs or hurt anyone in Smallville again, he would come after him. Emmitt fled town, abandoning Candice.[2]
Months later, Luthor told Emmitt that Clark was Superman. Pergande returned to Smallville and publicly confronted Clark. He shot Clark in front of a crowd and the bullet bounced off, revealing the truth.[1]
