Synopsis for "Episode 7: Sex in Arizona"
Michael and the Enigma make love in the bowels of Michael's old childhood home. Afterward, Michael theorizes that the Enigma and of the strange villains they've encountered in the past few days are just products of Michael's subconscious appreciation for the old Enigma comic book. The Enigma corrects him however, citing that Michael didn't create him, but rather, he created himself.
Michael telephones Titus Bird at the hospital and tells him of his experiences. Titus is less shocked at the revelation that the previously homophobic Michael Smith is now an out-of-the-closet homosexual, and more bothered by the notion that he's having an affair with a comic book character that he created. Michael comes to visit Titus' room and tells him what he learned of the Enigma's origins.
They decide to visit the ailing Victoria Yes, formerly Envelope Girl, who is resting in the same hospital. The Enigma appears before them and Michael convinces him to heal Victoria's injuries. Suddenly, the Enigma begins convulsing in pain and muttering "Close. She's close". Michael and Titus have no idea what he's talking about, but the Enigma frantically urges them all to leave. Victoria Yes begins having a violent convulsion in her hospital bed and her stomach starts to stretch and distend, as if something were trying to claw its way out. Her form explodes and from it, emerges the body of mental patient Ellen Collins. Ellen is a disfigured, giant creature, but moreover, she is the Engima's mother. Ellen lets out a shriek and the power of her voice sends the Enigma and Michael hurling through a window into the next room. Ellen leaps atop the Enigma and seemingly kills him. Satisfied that she has finished the deed she started more than twenty-five years ago, she skulks away. Michael races to the Enigma's side, but his hero/lover is not yet dead.
He brings him back to his old home and sets him down. The Enigma dreams and transmits the mental impressions from his dreams into Michael's mind. He sees visions of when the Enigma first surfaced from the well. Soon after, the Enigma awakens.
Elsewhere, Titus discharges himself from the hospital and returns to his apartment. When he enters the room, he finds Ellen Collins waiting for him.
