Ephraim Newhouse src

Ephraim Newhouse was the Talon of 1665.

Newhouse's sloppiness forced the court to retire him, stripping him of his weapons and armor with a mark of disgrace on his record. Four of his knives were stolen by Catwoman centuries later. On the Night of the Owls, Newhouse was revived, and sent by the Court to assassinate The Penguin. By sheer coincidence, the Penguin was in possession of the fifth knife, which Catwoman had set her own sights on. In the ensuing conflict, Catwoman saved the Penguin's life, and promised the five knives back to the Talon, preying on his need for redemption in the eyes of the Court. The Penguin shot him through the head before an exchange could be made, and so Catwoman - feeling as though she and the Talon were kindred spirits - laid his body on the roof of the Gotham City Police Headquarters with his five knives, and turned on the Bat-Signal.

Powers

  • Electrum Enhancement: Newhouse's system was infused with a chemical compound called "Electrum", that could reanimate dead tissue and heal living tissue over and over again. The compound is fueled by body heat.
    • Accelerated Healing: Due to the synthesized electrum in his blood, Newhouse can easily survive intense bodily harm. He was unaffected by a dagger to the neck.
    • Enhanced Durability: Newhouse possesses a degree of superhuman durability due to the electrum enhancement.
    • Immortality: Due to the synthesized electrum in his blood, Newhouse does not physically age, as he was born in the 1600's.
    • Pain Immunity: Ephraim felt no pain from being stabbed in the neck.

Abilities

  • Acrobatics: Like most Talons, Ephraim was raised as a circus acrobat from birth in Haly's Circus.
  • Martial Arts: The Court of Owls forged Newhouse into a master hand-to-hand combatant. He is able to match Catwoman blow-for-blow. He was able to cut down ten British soldiers with ease.
  • Tracking: Ephraim, like all Talons, is excellent at locating his target for execution.
  • Weaponry: Newhouse, like all Talons, was trained from a young age to use many weapon types, and uses an arsenal of bladed weapons on his missions.
    • Throwing: Newhouse is highly effective with throwing knives.
    • Swordsmanship: Newhouse is a highly skilled swordsman.

Weaknesses

  • Electrum Dependency: When Newhouse is defeated, he requires an alloy known as electrum to continue functioning. This alloy is supplied by the Court of Owls, but, if the Talon is defeated, they have the choice to cut off his supply.

Equipment

  • Paraglider Wings: Talons are equipped with gliders to safely navigate high areas.
  • Grapple Gun: Talons are equipped with grapple guns that allow them to maneuver across urban terrain with ease.

Weapons

  • Medieval Arsenal: Like all Talons Ephraim has access to a whole arsenal of medieval weapons for his missions.
  • Throwing Knives: Newhouse uses antique, professional grade throwing knives that have had their grooves filled with mercury for steadier flight.
