The Eternity Book is an immeasurably powerful magic tome given to Merlin by his father Belial.[5] It contains the known history of the universe.
History
Prime Earth
The tome would eventually end up among the artifacts housed within the Tower of Fate, utilized sometimes by Doctor Fate.[1] A copy of the book was later obtained by the former owner of the original, Merlin, when he used his magic to turn the fictional location of the Library of Babel into reality, which housed a copy of every book ever made including his Eternity Book as part of his plan to resurrect Arion as his Sapphire Knight, granting him control over the magical energy of the Darkworld through him.[2]
New Earth
The Eternity Book was ingested by the Thing-That-Cannot-Die, who absorbed its magical energy.[3] Apparently a copy of the Eternity Book, along with Sultan Suleiman's scimitar, was hidden beneath an ancient Roman temple by Merlin in 1566. The book was later found by Selma Tolon, who uses its spells as the heroine known as Janissary, although Tolon has not yet fully mastered the spells found in the book.[4]
