Euphor was a one-time Superman enemy.

Born in a Midwestern American town, Euphor visited a fair when he was ten and met an elderly mentalist who called himself "Mr. Hypno". Mr. Hypno sensed Euphor was gifted with a huge psychic power, and determined it was his duty to teach Euphor how to use his powers in order to help mankind.

Several years later, Euphor moved to Metropolis. In the beginning, he used his powers to help people by absorbing negative emotions which made them unhappy. Unfortunately, at some point Euphor's power started to corrupt him without him even noticing. The more unhappiness, anger and sadness he absorbed and turned into energy, the more powerful and crazy he became. Euphor went from making people feel artificially happier to mind-controlling them.

Eventually he decided to become Metropolis' big benefactor by chasing Superman out of town, and then taking advantage of a tv broadcast to absorb the negativity of millions of people at once. However, Superman challenged him and defeated him by feeding him more grief and unhappiness than Euphor could soak up.

Euphor was gifted with vast psychic powers that depended on his ability to absorb negative emotions and turn them into energy. At the beginning he was merely capable of feeling and absorbing emotions, but he eventually developed new powers such like the ability to transform organic and inorganic matter, shoot energy blasts and even time travel:

Euphor's mental stability degrades when he absorbs too much negative emotions. If he suffers a power overload, his body gets paralyzed before releasing all stored energy.

  • This version of Euphor, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths limited series. Even though versions of the character may have since appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
