F8-3-1459 is a temporal clone of Wally West, aka The Flash.
History
When Eclipso absorbed Foxy and ascended to a more powerful form known as "Heliophage", the Flash Family attempted to stop his advance towards Earth on the moon. Heliophage summoned the Flash's enemies to the moon, granting them superspeed and greater power to serve as his soldiers. This resulted in a full-scale war being fought on the surface of the moon between Heliophage's forces and an army of Wally West's temporal clones. To avoid confusion the clones referred to themselves by serial numbers rather than by name or as "The Flash". To maintain a speed advantage over the enemy the clone army generated an aura known as the "Velocisphere" across the moon. As a result of the time dilation this caused the war lasted for years on the surface, while to the outside world only fifteen hours had passed.
Heliophage was holed up on the south pole of the moon, hidden behind a vortex of dust and plasma which no scanner could penetrate. His forces built an energy structure which appeared to be a form of jet engine trying to move the moon out of its orbit, and then proceeded to build more which the clone army would charge out and destroy. In the war, the clones were not just the soldiers but also the munitions; creating them was a violation of physics and huge quantities of raw Speed Force energy were required to maintain their separate timelines. Therefore if they made physical contact the energy would be released in a tremendous explosion. The clones would destroy targets by running at it together and detonating. Most of the clones saw themselves as expendable and had a stoic dedication to their cause. However, F8-3-1459 somehow possessed an individual personality, experiencing feelings of fear and a desire for self-preservation.
Mister Terrific launched a drone at the moon to collect data from behind the Velocisphere. It was met by F8-3-1459 who took it to their headquarters, where the original Wally and Inspector Pilgrim filled it in on the situation. F8-3-1459 and the drone then proceeded to the muster for the next assault. While waiting for the order to advance F8-3-1459 vomited with fear twice to the surprise and mild disgust of his fellows. They charged towards the enemy lines, losing hundreds to enemy fire on the way. They established a new trench line and then received orders to destroy a jet under construction. The others all ran out without hesitation and detonated themselves against the half-finished jet, but F8-3-1459 held back until the others had sacrificed themselves. He then force himself out of the trench and ran towards the jet. Another survivor joined him, but just as they were about to hit the structure they were stopped by Kaptain Zero, one of Heliophage's lieutenants. The other clone wanted to detonate to take Zero out but F8-3-1459 refused, realising he did not want to sacrifice himself. Zero hit the other clone with a blast of ice, killing him and knocking F8-3-1459 away. In the lower gravity he was flung a great distance and crashlanded near Heliophage's vortex. He saw the vortex open and inside was Heliophage, in immense pain and struggling to gain control over Foxy, who was still alive and suspended within his energy form.[1]
F8-3-1459 spied on Heliophage briefing his captains, the Rogues, for a major offensive. Radwave asked why they needed to build three jets, when the one they already had should be sufficient to crash the moon into the Earth. Heliophage revealed that he did not intend to crash the moon into the planet, and needed three jets to move the moon into a stable orbit between the Sun and the Earth. This would create a permanent eclipse, plunging Earth into an unending nightmare of darkness, violence and despair.
F8-3-1459 ran back towards the Flash army's lines to report what he had discovered. He collapsed on a battlefield but was found by Max Mercy who carried him back to headquarters. The original Wally was meeting with Barry Allen, who had come to the moon to counsel him, and F8-3-1459 told them both what he had discovered. The original had little interest in what he had seen besides the fact that the enemy were preparing for a push. He dismissively thanked F8-3-1459 for his service and told him to join the "merge line".
Barry walked with F8-3-1459 to the merge line; where any clones who survived their offensive merged with a single clone known as the "Dead Drop", who would then in turn merge with the original so he and all subsequent clones would possess any information they brought back. Barry told F8-3-1459 that in all his studies of the Multiverse he had come to believe that it was the never ending cycle of stories that kept reality running. He noted that Darkseid had been obsessed with the Anti-Life Equation, the ultimate ending, and that he would probably laugh to see the war on the moon. Barry said goodbye to F8-3-1459, even addressing him as "Wally". When it was F8-3-1459's turn to merge with the Dead Drop he refused and ran away, declaring that he was "going rogue".[2]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Speed Force Conduit: The Flash possesses a connection to the Speed Force, a mysterious cosmic force that pushes time and space itself forward. As a conduit of the Speed Force, all aspects of The Flash's physiology are accelerated and enhanced.[3]
- Accelerated Healing: By having a connection to the speed force, The Flash has an incredibly fast healing ability and can heal from most injuries in seconds and devastating injuries in minutes.[4]
- Enhanced Senses: The Speed Force enhances The Flash's senses, allowing him to perceive and process thoughts faster than the normal person.[5]
- Phasing: The Flash can tap into the Speed Force to vibrate his molecules in a way to achieve intangibility for short bursts, allowing him to phase through objects.[6]
- Speed Force Aura: The Speed Force manifests an aura around The Flash and whatever he is carrying, protecting him from adverse effects of his speed, such as friction with the air.[7]
- Superhuman Durability: The Speed Force Aura also protects The Flash from kinetic impacts, which in turn, makes him much more durable and resistant to injury than any normal human.[8]
- Superhuman Stamina: The Speed Force grants The Flash with a great increase of stamina, allowing him to fight or run much longer than the average person. Although a great increase, it is not unlimited.[5]
- Superhuman Speed: The universal factor of being a Speed Force conduit grants The Flash with imperceptible amounts of speed. All powers that The Flash possesses derives from his speed.[5]. This also confers:
- Superhuman Agility: The Flash's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to superhuman levels. This allows him to easily maneuver while moving at superhuman speed.[5]
- Superhuman Reflexes: In conjunction with his enhanced senses, The Flash's reflexes are heightened immeasurably, allowing him to dodge or react faster than normal.[5]
- Vortex Creations: The Flash is able to create vortices of air by running in circles or rotating his extremities at super-speed. These vortices can be used for a number of effects.[9]
- Self-Sustenance: The Speed Force allowed the Flash army to survive without food or water during the war on the moon.[1]
- Bio-Fusion: The Flash has the ability to merge with other temporal clones, creating a single iteration who possesses all their combined memories and experiences.[2]
Weaknesses
- Power Instability: Maintaining F8-3-1459's personal timeline as stable and separate from the original requires a huge power load. If he makes physical contact with another temporal duplicate without first taking care to "match waveforms" the potential energy is released in a huge destructive blast.[1]
Trivia
- Technically both F8-3-1459 and the original have an equally valid claim to being the "real" Wally West.[10]
