Synopsis for Doll Man: "The Sphinx"

Horse-track racketeer "the Sphinx" bets heavily against up-and-coming favorite "Blue Bolt" and loses big. The Sphinx isn't having this; he and one henchman go directly to the paddock to shoot the winning horse, and only by great good luck are Martha Roberts and Darrel Dane on the scene when they show up. Doll Man jump-punches, thumb-wrestles, bullet-dodges, and again jump-punches the bad guys, but in the fracas the horse gets a bullet wound and Doll Man gets knocked out by a horse-hoof to his head. While he's unconscious, the bad guys get up and run away in one direction, the horse runs away in another, and Martha sticks around to help out. Blue Bolt wanders into town and makes friends with a newspaperboy, Tommy Brown, who walks the horse to his house and treats the horse's bullet wound.

Several days go by, until Tommy's tiny classified ad in the "Lost and Found" section of the local newspaper finally gets noticed, in the same edition, by the Sphinx and by Darrel Dane. The Sphinx and his gunsel get to Tommy first, on foot, and are all set to re-shoot the injured horse, when Darrel drives up in his open roadster; it's too late to do any size-changing stunts so he just swerves his car right between the horse and the shooters, and stops by crashing into a fence. Then he gets small, and jump-punches the henchman, but the Sphinx covers his own getaway by throwing young Tommy to land on Doll Man. Tommy and Doll Man compare notes.

A month goes by. Darrel gets Tommy hired by Blue Bolt's owner to tend to the horse's recovery, which is rapid. Blue Bolt is scheduled to compete in an upcoming race, but so is the Sphinx's horse "Shady Time." Sphinx and his pal show up at the track and knock out Bolt's jockey, and dump him in a shower room, and Tommy ends up riding Blue Bolt in the big race, to victory, while Darrel finds the real jockey, and Doll Man once again outfights the Sphinx and his henchthug, both of whom leave in the back of a paddy wagon.
