Action Comics #1012 is an issue of the series Action Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 2019. It was published on June 26, 2019.
Synopsis for "By Any Other Name"
The Invisible Mafia holds a meeting in their lead pipe. One of the criminals, Gummy, informs Mr. Strong that Red Cloud fought Superman to a standstill. Interested, Strong asks Whisper about Superman's location and Whisper confirms Superman has left Earth. Seizing the opportunity, Strong tells his people that with Superman off-world and Leviathan keeping everyone distracted, the Invisible Mafia can continue their work unimpeded. He informs them about a new drug called Apocalypse.
Meanwhile, Clark and Lois had spent the night together at the Fortress of Solitude. As the day begins, Superman leaves Earth to fix some problems with his father, while Lois calls Perry.
The Daily Planet team continues their investigation on Leviathan. Robinson informs Perry about Lois' father surviving an attack from Leviathan, something that interests Perry. Before Robinson can continue with her story, however, she gets a call from Trish, who informs her that Lois was spotted together with Superman. Since they do not know Clark and Superman are one and the same, Robinson and Trish assume Lois has been cheating on Clark with Superman, causing both women to feel sorry for Clark.
As Robinson returns to her cubicle, her arm suddenly turns gaseous and she nervously tries to hide her arm from her co-workers. She gets a phone call from a woman called Rose, who wants to talk to a reporter. Robinson agrees to meet Rose at a flower shop, where Rose tells her that sometimes, she turns into a completely different person called "Thorn." More specifically, Thorn is a split personality that takes control of Rose's body whenever she is in danger, and right now, Thorn wants to talk to Robinson.
Sure enough, Thorn manifests and tells that every night, she tries to make the world a better place. Robinson believes that Superman and the Metropolis police department are aware of her violent actions against criminals but choose to ignore her. Last night, she killed a group of criminals trying to sell a new drug called Apocalypse. The sale was controlled by a group known as the Invisible Mafia. That is why Rose wanted to meet Robinson, so that Thorn could tell her about them. Rose reasserts herself and tries to continue her talk with Robinson.
Later, Robinson meets up with Leone and tells her about her interview with Rose. She says she can get the Daily Planet can investigate the police for the pro-vigilante corruption, but Leone is more interested in what happened when Thorn attacked the Apocalypse sale.
According to Rose, Thorn was met by Leviathan, who offer to help her make a real difference in Metropolis.
